Thanks to Shannon for this fun craft idea for kids!

What you'll need:

Plenty of cotton balls
Flour
Water
Food coloring
Cookie sheet sprayed with Pam or other no-stick cooking spray

Mix 1 cup of flour with enough water to be a thick cake batter
consistency. Add a food coloring of your choice, adding enough to
get the desired color. It will dry darker.

Do this for as many colors as you'd like. We usually have at least 5
or 6 different colors.

Dip cotton ball in flour mixture then place on sprayed cookie sheet.
You can make any shape you'd like. You can make rainbows, flowers,
snakes, animals, or whatever. You can use a cookie sheet for one
design if you want a really big one.

For animals, if you want eyes or some other small feature, cut a
cotton ball in half or fourths.

If you plan on hanging your design on a nail or hook, make sure you
poke a large enough hole in the top cotton ball. Since they puff up
when you bake them, make it a bit larger than you really need.

Once you have your design on the cookie sheet, place it in the oven
on 300 degrees and bake until your design is hard. Since oven temps
vary, check it periodically to make sure it isn't burning. You may
need to turn your oven up or down, depending on how well it's
cooking.

Once it's done, remove from oven and let it cool for about 10
minutes. Using a metal spatula, remove from cookie sheet and place
on a cooling rack to finish cooling. These will be extremely hot, so
be careful!! Make sure you are involved in this step if your kids
are doing the rest of it by themselves.
