Kids Crafts: Recipe for Play Clay (Clay that Air Dries)
Thanks to Christi for this new Play Clay recipe for kids - a clay that doesn't contain any flour, and that will air dry hard in about 36 hours. :) So that you can keep your kids' creations! This would be a fun and cheap summer project - both baking soda and cornstarch are usually available in the bulk section at your supermarket -- which will make it an even cheaper project.
Play Clay For Kids
2 cups Baking soda 1 cup Cornstarch 1 1/4 cups Water
Mix corn starch and baking soda, add water, mix. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.Thicken to consistency of mashed potatoes. Form clay into desired shapes, let dry for 36 hours.Color with paint or felt-tip marker. Coat with SPRAY shellac or clear nail polish.
